Luski Gallery

The Art of Philanthropy

Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery

Located on the first floor of our headquarters facility, the Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery is a welcoming place for our community to enjoy art.

The collection features contemporary glass artists such as Lino Tagliapietra, Jon Kuhn and Dale Chihuly, as well as painters such as Chuck Close and Herb Jackson. The sparkling glass, vibrant colors and even a giant cat painting draw thousands of visitors each year.

Most of the collection was contributed by art patrons and philanthropists Isaac and Sonia Luski, who emigrated from Cuba in 1961 with few possessions other than two paintings. After arriving, the couple collected works from around the world, from aspiring artists to well-known sculptors and painters.

The Sonia and Isaac Luski Gallery is a vibrant gathering place for receptions, celebrations and other events. Beyond the gallery, art enlivens our convening spaces and common areas, with stunning works at every turn. Portraits and bronze reliefs honor our region’s most generous philanthropists and civic leaders. A vertical garden by French botanical artist Patrick Blanc serves as the backdrop for a sculpture garden on our fourth-floor terrace.

The collection brings to life the Luskis’ philanthropic vision to share exquisite art with our community. We hope it inspires all visitors to realize their own civic and charitable goals.

Sonia and Isaac Luski

Isaac and Sonia Luski, who contributed much of the Foundation’s art collection, were among Charlotte's premier arts patrons and philanthropists. The couple donated hundreds of pieces, mostly glass, from their extensive art collection to institutions in North Carolina and beyond.
