Cultural Trust fund sustains nature sanctuary

An important piece of our region’s cultural landscape, the Wing Haven Gardens and Bird Sanctuary chose to place its endowment with the Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust, an FFTC Subsidiary Foundation dedicated to sustaining our vibrant cultural community.

Since Elizabeth and Eddie Clarkson gave their garden to the Wing Haven Foundation in 1971, the foundation board has worked diligently to cultivate a sanctuary in nature, to be stewards of the garden and to maintain the legacy of Southern horticulture.

Wing Haven’s endowment is placed in an FFTC Agency Fund. These cost-effective, long-term vehicles give nonprofits a way to sustain their good work while leveraging FFTC’s investment and financial services.

“In making this decision, the board feels confident in the greater investment oversight provided by FFTC, in addition to a wide range of investment options with a competitive fee structure,” said Katie James, Wing Haven Foundation board treasurer.

James added that FFTC also brings value by providing services such as fund accounting and investment policy review, as well as delivering a high level of customer service and expertise with nonprofits.
