Elizabeth Sterling

Elizabeth Sterling is Chief Financial Officer at Foundation for the Carolinas where she provides strategic financial and operational leadership for the Foundation and its affiliates. She oversees finance, accounting and donor operations, ensuring strong fiscal stewardship, long-term sustainability and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.

A seasoned executive, Elizabeth brings experience across financial services, consulting, start-up, private equity, software and manufacturing industries. She has held multiple senior leadership roles spanning finance and operations including within Bank of America and Ally Bank.  

In 2024, Elizabeth was honored with the Community Impact Award from the Urban League of the Carolinas, recognizing her leadership and dedication to the community. She also served as a strategic advisor to Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools executive leadership team, contributing to the development and stewardship of a nearly $2 billion annual financial plan for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
